while waiting in a doctor’s office

my arm traverses your shoulder
much too thin
- emaciated

we came here 3 months ago
hopeful and whole
damning the devil that hid within

a specter of yourself
today you sit in silence

while I curse
the man who holds your life
within his hands

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Hi, Ruth! I have suffered a similar scenario with someone I cared about ~ and it was emotionally draining and sad.
