the sprinkling stardust

beyond the horizon
from behind the sun
an unfamiliar photo
a wandering
young woman
wounded flowers
left dangling undone
it seems
my autumn
had finally come

curtain lace on spotted window
autumn blinds of darker times
leaves stirrin'
cats purrin'
cedar sports a flannel gown
were these dreams what
I'd hoped, prayed
longed
I thought
I had 'em once
though
I suppose
they had a place
but they
never came to visit
or invite me
mostly
things
left
faded
entirely
out
finally
day comes
curtains fall
and all hope lies
dead or dyin'

when finally you've come
to comfortably numb
uncontrollably from
a sleeping expanse
a ghost arises
a lifetime past
spreading wings
wanting the real
wanting to feel
wanting to know
who what how
why this came to be

it's a breezy fall
out growin' I see
a squall comin' through
sometimes
I guess
it's just plain
ignorant to write
when winds are blowin'
but I'll just have to see
how it goes
I guess
you know
the kids called
wanted to know
who I was
did you tell 'em
how they've changed
I never would have
known of times
how certainly they fly
yeah
So
I've missed it
of course
many tears from
eyes have fallen
but then again
I've grown cold that way
you know
I think
but
I'm sure
the wells run dry
not much left
to live
give

a neighbor's fire smells
of wood
burning the road
ever turnin'
the incense of lives
in despair crying
another
Christmas
times approachin'
a little more quickly
this year than intended
you see
I got a
couple pairs of holey socks
three old T shirts
and my last pair of skivvies
all frozen to the line
hopin' for a
thaw while
laundry's backin'
up but
I'm not complainin'
and yeah
I know I'm carryin' on
'cause the makeup
isn't fittin' for my
complexion yet
is what I intended
for ears
but thinkin'
maybe yours
should hear
I was afraid
of a reflection
that of course
inspired a tear
of some
not so kind
but rude
objection
and lookin'
through tired eyes
concerns were gone

I guess
some things last longer
than you think
the days the chaos
mind stripped to shreds
sorry
some dreams
you can never kill
others
still buried
ya pray are dead

I don't want
either to
have an appearance
of ill
as I have fallen from touch
you know
reclusive and such
buried on a slope between
maybe lost
and lust
but honestly
I still hope
you know
it hasn't been easy
diggin' me up
but then of course
you needed it that way
and your father
who never said
an unpleasant thing
'bout who I was
gave you everything
bless his soul
he couldn't
stop singing
about me for a second
how sweet
never thought
I'd thank the old buzzard
though a little late
I'm sure it was
for them
an unpleasant task
tryin' to find me
behind you

I see
it's been a
trial and
a real
chore for them
you know
keeping everyone
painted with a
smile and I'm sure
they know
sometimes your other
wishes you'd just disappear
you'd give it up
maybe die
but it doesn't matter
now
ideas theirs
but if it honestly bothers you
too much I'm sorry
I care but
choices theirs
southern wings
left behind
you know
their on
the stoop
wantin' to find
I'm not sure
but what I thought
tears or not
is it too much to ask
that I wanted so
just to let you know
that I felt I ought to write you
but as you see
autumn's tears
are just invitin'
nought
or maybe I'm losin'
touch or
somethin'
but honestly
you know
I always hated
in sighting anything
especially an
argument

Speaking of ghosts, wouldn't you know here comes mine again...

Wow, Dale, this was some tale!

Quite a number of exceptional lines and I enjoyed the introspection too. I think I might want to read this again, I loved the flow. Sometimes it feels good to be found again. Just had some similar experiences.

Love,
Margherita

The honesty in your poetry has always impressed me.  Where have you put all those words you hoarded?  I've missed them.  Hug!

And, I am certain you make a lovely song to sing~

It is just so warmly refreshing to read you again~
