Raindrop whispers

***
Hold me close sweet Love
through the supple drum sound
of raindrops playing memories
of long gone summer afternoons
when the first timid stirrings
colored my cheeks to match
the boldest red rose petals
offering their lessons of charm
basking cheerfully in the sun.
When my heartbeat fluttered
in rapturous anticipation
of tender fingers lifting my chin
to align my lips to his
when my eyes met his and trusted.

Hold me close sweet Love,
while autumn’s melancholy
strums the silver strings of the rain
recalling my frozen smiles
of those long gone times
when my blossoming
wasn’t given its full season,
when he pretended to know
how to gratify my soul
but got the timing all wrong.

Within your arms my Love,
I now listen to the rain
whispering tunes of hope
so that I may claim back
the dreams of pure harmony
I was once meant to dream
under the cloudless indigo skies
of the springtime of my life.

nice 'write'...matching the fine photo.-image and its title!

I am particularly fond of:

"while autumn’s melancholy
strums the silver strings of the rain"

Applause!

Wonderful write, Marherita!

"recalling my frozen smiles
of those long gone times
when my blossoming
wasn’t given its full season,
when he pretended to know
how to gratify my soul
but got the timing all wrong."

Yes, I also recall those times and, of course, nothing is ever right if the timing is wrong.  I'm obviously not the only one who "digs deep".     I enjoyed being in your "deep".

Margherita,

I like this one.  It moves along smoothly, and tells a good tale.

A very passionate, sensitive write.

The word "tender" comes to mind.

Hello,

This was such a beautiful poem to read.
The last five lines of your first verse had me hooked, as we all know what that feels like - heart-melting!
