(My first post and poem here. =))

O! how these notes flow into my ears
like ambrosia into the mouths of paupers;
each high and low so beautiful, forever branded
like a blazing iron.

Forever I hopelessly stare,
mystified by this elegant display
of human potential exceeding my own;
these eloquent featherblows hitting me like drums.

As I walk away, entranced and dazed,
I thank the lords cursing, for bestowing
such a gift on such a lowlife;
such divinity on such misery.

I yearn for more grace, more prowess --
betrayed by the tantalizing of those
better than me, I cannot help but think
that I will never amount,
and that this accursed will lay branded forever.

Welcome, Dukerson.   A lowlife couldn't have written this.  I loved it, except for the way you slated yourself who is one of God's wonderful creations.

As an artist, I too, feel humbled and in a state of awe when I look at the grand works of the masters!

As for my piano playing, everyone is better at it than I am! lol

Use the inspiration to further your own abilities! We are all works in progress!

Giving you a warm, welcoming pip hug,

I have to agree with Kit, Dukerson. This sneaks up on the reader...and like a heady wine, it lingers in the brain, and heart.

My own first offerings here were such awkward attempts at metaphors and such. I've often felt my poetry and prose weak beyond belief, yet stayed the course and kept posting. I'm not sorry for my time spent at Pips.
Welcome! I sincerely hope you continue to write and post from your unique perspective, as this board offers a rainbow of diversity. Spend time looking through the various forums, reading new people and making poet friends. But mostly, enjoy!
