What is the soul?
It is The Lighthouse of Your Sea

The soul regards no measured space, nor sands that mark the hour
It’s not the beauty of the rose, but fragrance of the flower
The spirit will remain unseen
It’s not the trees or forest, but serenity of green

It seeks a better place to dwell, a higher step to climb
It reaches not for twinkling stars, but rather the sublime
It’s God’s reflection in the night
It’s not the constellations, but the origin of light

It has no size and yet it grows, no age but yet it learns
It has desires, but not a dream, for righteousness it yearns
It’s caged within, but travels on
It is your beacon in the night, your footpath in the dawn

The soul is what another sees, when looking at your deeds
It is the inspiration that is shining on his needs
It is a compass and a guide
It is the lighthouse of your sea that glimmers from inside

It’s not the beauty of the man, but goodness of the heart
It’s not the painted canvas, but the wonder of the art
It rises higher than the mind
One day it goes to meet with God, and leaves the man behind

Mercy me!  I have to send this to Sy, it is like you wrote parts of it for him Lizzie.  I think you're right about the lighthouse of our sea being the soul.  I see your little beacon sure isn't creakin' lady, this was a super smooth sail of a poem to calm any stormy sea.

Yup, took it from Nanners!

Exquisite in its art, content and philosophy!  I am basking in the serenity and truth and strength of this.  Thank you for starting my morning off like this.

Liz, your a lighthouse of poetry...very much enjoyed this and your perception, you get better and better, your poetry lives...and breaths life....

this was so totally aware
It has no size and yet it grows, no age but yet it learns
It has desires, but not a dream, for righteousness it yearns
It’s caged within, but travels on
It is your beacon in the night, your footpath in the dawn

missing you
hugs
