The alarm goes off,
you get out of bed,
another day,

Looking into the mirror,
seeing yourself,
do you ever ask,

What if today,
was my last day,
here on earth?

Will I be,
remembered?
what good for humanity,
have I done?

Have I made a difference?
looking again,
you wonder,

What if I had,
two hours to live,
what would I do?

What people to see?
to tell my feelings to?
to leave no leaf unturned,

The mirror, our microscope,
keeping us in check,
of who we are?

What we have become,
changes to be made,
for the good,

Look closely,
the next time,
you see your image,

What lies beneath?
is it a loving heart?
a giving heart?

A cold heart?
there are people,
special people,

In your life,
who need to hear,
your words,

Of love and appreciation,
of comfort, security,
of friendship, family,

It is never too late,
to turn over that leaf,
start today,

The next time,
you look into
that mirror,

You will smile,
knowing the beauty,
that lies within yourself!
