At the Crossroads of Infinity

Another long and restless night
Is all that lays ahead
As relentlessly I toss and turn
In this big cold empty bed

For the third night in a row this week
I've had no one to hold as I sought to sleep
Then I swear just as I close my eyes
Right on cue the dawn arrives

Bringing cold steel shafts of sunlight
To pierce the window blinds
And I awake as I went to sleep
With you upon my mind

Lest I cannot last another day
Without you by my side
I know I was far from perfect
And yes, indeed I've lied

But should Aphrodities messenger visit you
At least remember that I tried....

I must admit I haven't had much experience sleeping with someone in the bed (discounting Mom's pup) but you make me feel how nice it can be and how much it can be missed.

..after Dennis', yes, I've often hoped I could share my bed with someone precious. Thank god your poetry showed me the Danger in this, and I'll spend the rest of my days a celibate or an honest lover!
Celibacy seems the easier road though.
Enjoyed reading you very much,
Pops

Dennis, I can promise you it is very nice and also precious as you will one day discover, the hard part is realising what you have at the time and appreciating & savouring it before you lose it and then having to bear the pain & anguish that remains because you were either too stupid or shallow to see it at the time.....Hindsight is not an exact science !

Pops, Glad you enjoyed it and a very succinct deduction, however, because both celibacy & honesty( I have found) to be such a challenging adversary, I succumbed to tempations of the flesh as it was ( and I guess always will be) the easier option.that may explain why I have given up smoking at least 17 times  !!

Thanks for the encouragement,

John

Tomtoo

Not me, it marks the beginning of the end for a friend I wrote about recently, but thanks for your concern....
