Memories of you wash over me Painting colors dark and bright Stepping out of the shadows of darkness Into the welcoming sunshine light Can you really lose something That wasn't yours to start? If the answer to that is no Please kindly explain it to my heart The memories... They serve to help chase some of the pain away Clinging to them, I hold them deep inside Memories in every corner along the way Bittersweet Sometimes I wish the memories would just go Then I would be left with a blank slate This pain I would never know I'd be missing something magical though Despite the heartache, I began to heal Searching for the answers I strip to the core of me, each layer I peel The pools of my eyes Hold memories of a time not so blue Memories captured forever A time when there was me and you "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away" |
