A high touch moment
facilitated by high tech;
the cordless portable telephone
you always had trouble using,
preferring the old Ma Bell handset.

That final moment came suddenly,
a last breath exhaled peacefully
seemingly without regret,
knowing you had done
all you were meant to do
on this earthly plane.

You smiled as your sister-in-law
whispered words you needed to hear,
giving you a loved one's permission
to let go...
to take the next step
on your personal path.

I held the phone close to your ear,
brushed a wisp of gray hair
from your damp forehead,
and repeated the words she spoke
that gave you your final smile.

Now you are free to see
all the loved ones
you have been missing
for so long.

RIP Gina

This is such a soft and loving piece - I wish all partings could be like that.

a good commitee can decimate communication.

This is making my tears course down my cheeks, but yes, it is beautiful and good in all ways.

Revisiting with a friend and sharing this poem/experience, which we both find poignant, moving, tender.

Not to worry Lindsay. Gina was 92, and passed in bed peacefully, with a smile.
Thanks everyone...for taking time to read and reply.

wonderfully said, Ms. 'Midnitesun'!

I could never achieve a 'write' like this;
and, for many 'personal reasons' cannot
even begin to form the words to adequately
comment on it...

just, simply superb!
