             Dear Joanne

Mothering still..not able to believe you are gone
So soon, with so much left unsaid, undone.

Sitting here hour after hour. Sifting;
sorting; reading; saving letters from the past; essays; thoughts jotted down.

There are no answers hidden there,
what drives us to believe that one word
or phrase could be deciphered?

Your life can not be brought back, nor made easier for you.
Nor can it ease my sorrow.

Feburary 1989

Written  the days following the sad death of our daughter Joanne. I found these in an old journal,  I have never shown this one or the next one I post. 'Late"

How sad. I'm sure going through the journal must have raised painful yet loving memories. I pray your grief is short and you remember the good times soon.

Hi latearrival
I lost my daughter in 2000 so I felt your poem deeply. It is so hard to deal with what is left of a person's life when they are gone as far as personel things, So hard to sort and get rid of things when you feel a need to keep every thing.

MartyJo~
There are tender memories to be held gently and remembered often in your journal~

This is such a tender recall ...~

"Mothering still..not able to believe you are gone

This is heartbreaking to read.  Even though it was 18 years ago you are "Mothering still".
God Bless.

Very touching "Late", thanks for sharing this, sweet that you still talk to Joanne.
My mom's been on "the other side" since 1995 and we still "talk."

JL, Thank you, mothering now only through thought, but remembering always.

Marge,Thank you, I sometimes wear her high school ring to feel closer. It helps even though, as JL said, she is 18 years older now. She would be fifty three in November  and I can not picture her so.

Moondogz. A nice young person you are, thanks for dropping by again.

Appreciating all of you so much, "late"
