The true confessions of Xavier Blake Extract #1 “…My name is Xavier Blake, I am twenty-nine years old…well I was the first time I died! Since then I haven’t really been keeping count. I used to be like you once, all hearts and flowers, a life made up of memories and photographs constantly on display for others to see, an open window into your heart that makes you easy to manipulate, easy to control. I used to be so naive and vulnerable to the ways of the world around me. Like others I lived in fear waiting for what fate would bestow upon those who dared to challenge its virtues, its beliefs, those who dared to question its mere existence. Like a helpless observer I could only watch as the balance of power constantly changed overnight. The ‘hunters’ becoming the ‘hunted’ totally defenceless as they clung onto hope like it was their only saviour. Every waking moment being brainwashed into believing that one day there would be peace and that it would come fast and soon, without too many tears, without too much bloodshed. On a daily basis being denied the lives that they were once promised, people didn’t ‘live’ they merely ‘survived’ from one tragedy to the next. Their faith crushed till all their hope was lost forever continually seeking answers to their prayers. But like I said at the beginning, I used to be like you once…however for me, ‘once’ was a very long time ago and ‘mortality’ is so overrated! Trust me...” |
