They were starin' at the butterfly who just drew the Jack of all Hearts.
    ~ Bob Dylan

white cuffed to the marrow
nails cut smug square
he brownfingered her pulse

she clasped her wings
around the gift that would take her

watched lonely nights
alight in dusty corner

quiet slid into the room
breaths drew in
waited on silent lips

she knew the answer
jack over princess
a soft flush
played across precious cheeks

no flash
no smile

the princess threw in her hand
the moment she drew

the Jack of all Hearts

What lady could resist the Jack of Hearts???

I appreciate the delicate touches of innuendo in your poetry.

You have a romance novel ~ or two ~ or three ~ in you begging to be written!

To love and romance,

LA

Thoughts of moths came to mind...
grasping the unknown warmth

and waiting for the burn....

well done, m'Lady...

I always enjoy a good princess

-- and then one that comes with a Jack of Hearts?

Oh, Man, I am in.

This reads like a "trip" if you know what I'm sayin'. It's very... I don't know, it feels very Jefferson Airplane. I dig it Lady, I dig it a lot. Cheers    - Ed

I'm seeing some really great poetry in Forum #41.

“Well all the apostles, they’re sittin’ on the swings, sayin’ I’d sell off my savior for a set of new rings.”
