Are “facts” truth?
Are “laws” based on truth?
Can truth be measured?
Can it be counted?

Truth
is stranger than fact.
It lives beyond laws
never to be found
in sweeping promises
or grandiose pronouncements.

Truth
is a light in dark places;
a mantle of experience;
a compendium of understanding;
the radiance of compassion.

Truth
is the lie that saves
the innocent life
yet remains untarnished
in the exchange.

Truth
is never found
among the hypocrites
but can walk as comfortably
with kings as with paupers.

Truth:
how few know
thy beautiful face!

"Truth

I agree that truth is light, and because of that we (most of humans) live in eternal darkness...

I like the way you defined the TRUTH that is no longer existing in this world.
I don't mean that people keep lying on and on, but even if someone said something true, he/she is no longer trusted with it.

Nice writing, it made me wonder a lot about many things we do in daily life... or something like that, for some reason...

I enjoyed it

Enjoyed...one of my favorite Bible scriptures are these words spoken by Jesus..."And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."...John 8:32...James

a most fine and 'true' write!

My favorite passage was already 'hi-lited' in
a previous comment/reply post, so I will focus
as well on:

"Truth
is never found
among the hypocrites
but can walk as comfortably
with kings as with paupers."

[ergo, 'Truth' is sadly an ever-vanishing commodity
  amid the "Runaway American Dream]

serious, sustained applause!!

I've often heard the expression
"Truth be told..."
but far less often heard truth spoken.
A wonderful philosophical write, WW.

WW - Sadly I feel that your summing up is true but more and more people are waking up although, of course, we will never know the whole truth and nothing but the truth when it comes to life.  We can always hope the law of attraction applies - give a truth, receive a truth.

Beautiful definition!

I believe Truth is what we believe to be true, so we must be careful in what we believe ...

“Truth:
how few know
thy beautiful face!”

Excellent write.
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, a theory:
This could be true or it could be a simple form of adulation.
Whereas:
Truth is irrefutably unquestionable, as in mathematics.
Truth can be proven now or revealed at a designed point in time.
As in prophesy.

I agree with the reply from James.
That is the truth, I do.

My 2cents...

"What is truth" ~ I'd say you did a might fine job of explaining what truth is ~ and what it is not.

Truly a fine and philosophical write! ~ and that's the truth!
