In life we’re always learning as we find out who we are
We change just like the weather, and we often tend a scar
From falls and trials of hardship that life through time had dealt
Reflecting then decisions made and different things we felt

Life has gone so quickly by, the yesterdays not long ago
I journey back with memories eye and just for moments, back I go
Really I am just the same; the mirror though reflects the truth
The person that I do recall, is often thinking back on youth

The core still warm that childhood gave, the fire low but there
Finding as the years went by; my road was one of fate’s prepare
Often with my hurried stride, I missed the joys along the way
I passed some roads that make a life and found had passed another day

I wonder of tomorrow’s path and what will be in years to come
A person lives the aftermath of all the things that they have done
Changes come and people stray, dreams don’t overcome regret
But strength is often not enough and so the urge they just forget

But slowly thoughts become real words and feelings deep inside reveal
Something, yes a mighty force, becomes the voice of what you feel
And life becomes more honest, more the thoughts are said
Slowly every truth is told and wanted answers fed

Round and round and round we go, to tire of the travel
Smooth the road from time to time; then strewn with rocks and gravel
Best be honest, make the most and live life to the full till end
Let us not when time is near, all say that we pretend

I really enjoy your writing, Rick. Your mind often seems to travel the same "questioning" route as mine, so it's nice to read another's perspective on those same "questions".

I loved the ending line - too often I wonder how much really is just "pretend". Well done.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Rick you always have something interesting to say and say it in a good way. Enjoyed this very much. So many wear a mask and some more than one. Good thoughts. best to you, "late"

Dear Kit, always wonderful to have you reply my friend, I think at times we all wonder how much is pretend and how true we all are to ourselves, finding the right picture and taking the right road seems to be the journey we all take, the holy grail of life though seems very illusive but the search goes on. Thanks for you visit here, till again have a good week.

Rick

Late, great to have you here, I think often the mask is one hard to discard, it becomes our face of life and hides the tears of living, thank you for your reply my friend, very much appreciated.

Rick
