Listening to every heart

Porch Dreams

Silence whispers
among cedar trees,
along with
hungry Katydids,
that sit aside
some Cricket’s knee
all laying their bearing
upon this land
while a spider
gently draws me in…

and I? I hunger
for you, that one memory,
the silent, sweet warmth
of your hand

as fireflies begin
to illuminate
in silent flight
while far-off grows deep thunder
in lumbering rolls, this night

a candle, or two
is lit with hope
that one may sight
words that could speak
to some clarity
of this singular, wonderful night,

and in seek of this,
what just it might reveal

of unspoken treasures,
that this coming of thunder
in its rolling, might bring…
a silent seal,

and

it gives rise, indeed,
to past blunders,
and greed,
and then on
to a soul’s belief
in every, very,
little
thing

and all this, I see,

as my eyes look forward
to your silent
beautiful
dreams.

a fine ‘write’ for this deep summer night!

I am especially fond of the beginning:
[particularly the opening line!]

“Silence whispers
among cedar trees,
along with
hungry Katydids,
that sit aside
some Cricket’s knee
all laying their bearing
upon this land
while a spider
gently draws me in…”

AND, grand-fine imagery such as:

“far-off grows deep thunder
in lumbering rolls”

sustained applause!!

Karilea, you see and feel a silent world that many humans never experience.

What a blessing for your readers that you have the talent and ability to convey that world to others.

Dear Sissie...How is it that something so tiny as a spider, can make something as intricate and strong as a web?  It is one of the treasures of life, is it not...as those things intangible, as a memory:

"the silent, sweet warmth
of your hand'

Your porch swing creaks with lovely thoughts.

What a beautiful, pensive write! *S* I hope you don't mind me hogging the rocking chair... for I don't want to leave your porch! *S*

Sunshine--This gives real meaning to the quote--"Poetry is emotion recollected in tranquility."--I wish that I knew whose quote that was.  Anyway, the title, Poet,
fits you, my friend.

Hugs!

I could use more nights like that! Lovely write...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Yes, timeless!

I love this, Karilea.  Still remembering a wonderful meeting...

One of the reasons I like your writing so is that you perceive beyond the self and voice it so gently.

Be well, my friend.
