Well here I am alone in these
East Texas woods.
Gathering up drift wood to burn.

I started this campfire
Two days ago.

These woods bring back memories
Of a little blonde haired girl
Walking barefoot down a dirt road

Struggling to find her way out
She knows it's her only hope
At a life worth living.

All around her she sees
Suffering, heartache
And broken dreams.

The little girl hangs
Her head and crys.

I wouldn't mind being lost in the woods for awhile

Thanks for you sweet reply.
I must tell you though.
You don't want to be lost in those woods.

Ahhh... now see, I have found more of your work. I like this, but would like it more if you had expanded on it - a little more information for us to go on. I know, sometimes it isn't easy...especially when, as you say, "based on a true story" that is your own. Keep writing. I have a feeling that you are a poet to watch, and I will add you to my library of poets.

Thank you again for reading and your honest thoughts. Yes after I ended this I started think this might just be a great short story. I'm working on more now.

and this is the place where I can cry with words, although a forest would suit me fine too sometimes...
