Hidden behind the wheel a mind, an artist, author, a person-talker,
To children she breaks the day
with warmth and humor, color and light
Her bus travels on its way!.

Her wheel demands its muscles
The turns, deliberate and well placed;
Yet, fragile strokes on her paper
Preserve beauty for all to interface.

An inspiration, she is, sitting in Big Yellow;
Her spirit humble and softly bubbling,
A woman dreamer, a color driver.
She drives the colors home with brush
Steering tenderly, with thoughts unrushed.

a very touching poem for I'm assuming one heck of a woman...or could this be about all women?

Whatever, it is lovely, thank you for sharing.  Happy Friday

You know, I've thought I'd really like to be a school bus driver...after 30 years of teaching and my flower delivery girl life, I thought it would be perfect.  I wish this poem was for me.

The Lady,

    I'm glad you enjoyed.  Thank you for your sweet response.   Hoping you will have a great weekend.  Enjoy...

iliana,

    I hope she likes it.  I'm overwhelmed by the talent she has.  She's written two or three 300-400 page novels and is a master wildlife water color artist, as well as a very well-loved bus driver by the children.
It was only by chance I found out she is a writer.  The only time one would find her honking her own horn, I believe, is on the bus!  Thanks for your comment, JO.  I appreciate you taking your time.  I know how busy you are!

Notelady,

   I'm happy you enjoyed it, and BTW, welcome to Piptalk!  I'm looking forward to stealing a moment to read your poetry.  Thank you for taking the time to read and respond.

LeeJ.,

   Yes, it is written for a fine lady of whom I've recently had the privilege of working with.  I think you are right, though--this could apply to women in general because we tend to carefully place the right brushstroke to nurture those around.  Neat analogy, LeeJ.  Thank you for your thought provoking comment.

Not only was I touched by the depth of appreciation and understanding shown in your poem, but I was also moved by the warm replies that you wrote for those who responded.

It is evident to me through your sensitive poetry, that you do not give the world around you, a cursory glance. You look beneath the surface and that makes reading your poetry so rewarding.

The woman of whom you have written, appears to be quite special ~ as are you!

Loving hug,
Linda
