Dead Pretty

Your eyes are so deep,
and as black as the night.
Your cheekbones, so perfect,
defined and pearl white.

Your teeth are like ivory,
and near straight as well.
Your hips bold and bony,
though looking quite swell.

Your hair still quite golden,
like old rotting straw,
and what a complexion,
like the teeth of a saw.

But beauty is skin deep,
so please don’t dismay.
it’s just your skin's texture,
that gets in the way.

I don’t mean to be nasty,
I don’t mean to be rude,
but the maggots you foster,
will eat you for food.

While in the church garden,
this maiden I found,
I think I was planting,
too deep in the ground!

It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.

Late Arrival, Passing Shadows,

Thanks for looking in, I'm afraid the timing of this piece was terrible for me as we were burying Joan's father at the time!

However, death should not be seen as finality and I'm sure he would have enjoyed the humour ...
