Two Daughters and a Son

I had two daughters and a son
Before the battle of I was won
With time and waters river source
My ID went racing down the course

My mind was off in wonder land
While dancing on the shifting sand
Desire steered my ship at sea
While looking for maturity

I fought a war within a war
To stay a worm the apples core
I found there was not time enough
Nor could the answer be a bluff

I am but common human dust
Full of fear and common lust
How can I set the scale to true?
With just insanity in view

It seems my life a total waste
I do not like the human taste
It started in a water spore
And still I stand the outer door

I have two daughters and a son
Yet cannot say the battles won

can any of us say the battles won with ourselves and our children?  I think not
Reminds me of the song, "Cats in the Craddle"  Yanno, we grow up with our children...we feel at the time, we must provide to give them all the advantages we didn't have, some of us try to live the dreams we didn't suceed at through our children...and yet, our children, I believe give us purpose, teachings, insight, and a warm smile inside...

wonderful write, Sy...

But now you have some wisdom, dear,
without the growth, t'would be not, I fear.

and give hugs to those children...
who saw you through.

Sir Sy
anyone who can manage to raise two daughters
and a son
has surely won the battle

maybe not the war
but the battle...

I love this

The war is not over until the day we die Sy, but the battle is what makes life interesting.  The day we give that up, is admitting defeat.

You don't strike me as one who would give in to the struggle! Sometimes, we don't give ourselved enough credit...we've already won the battle, but don't know it!

Bea,
Know thy self is the key and with that key you can open any door. But you must have the key.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have two daughters and a son
Yet cannot say the battles won
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The battle's never won my friend
Until we reach the final end
And even then it carries on
fought by your daughters and your son

For you are they, and they are you
in everything they say and do
With fallibility and all
for none are perfect at the call

Each battle fought and laid to waste
There's none like all the Human taste
But with two daughters and a son
I'm sure for you, the wars been won!

Sey,

It's possible to lose ALL the battles and still win the war....

Ivor
