She took my hand and led me on,
this sprightly, dancing love of mine.
She twirled and sparkled in the dawn
while building fancies rich as wine.

Her gossamer filaments broached my head,
the threads entwined my senses there.
Feelings as old as man's own dread
grew rife within that desert, sere.

We fled together along life's sea,
following the span upon the chart,
and I knew of love as it should be
in my sparkling, silent, deepest heart.

Our course was true, with fine intent,
we sailed along our well-filled path.
The years, like days, flew as we went
with no regrets, no aftermath.

The love, remembered, filled us up.
Our souls rejoiced within our breast.
Delicious were the feasts we'd sup
and evening's frolics brought us rest.

She's still my love, 'tho years have gone.
We kept our hearts, as one, in tune.
I can't regret being now alone
for memories grant I'll see her soon...

Poetry is just the evidence of life.
If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. "

I also hold some old loves close to my heart. Even those that ended on a less than favourable note. I threw out the less savoury memories and kept the good ones!

Your poems on love, always touch my heart.

As you love in life, may you also be loved in return.

This is wonderful, the rhyme excellent and the rhythm true.

a good commitee can decimate communication.

Bill~
The title drew me in for it laid a red carpet to a remember of my past~

A little over 5 years ago ... a heartbeat from my past reached out through this marvelous invention of the Internet and touched my heart once more~
I returned to streets once walked upon ...
we renewed our love ... and are still together to this day~

This is what I wrote him at that time -

You might find it a familiar song sung by many hearts~

Yeah ... his name is Bill also~

I enjoyed the piece you penned~
VERY MUCH~

Wow Marge so similar stories. I found a old flame that I was going to marry 6 years ago and lost touch. Luckily I found her again on the internet recently though we are just friends i couldn't be happier. The poem that you shared was lovely along with the picture!! Thank you for your comment and sharing this poem with me.

Kethry Thank You so much for the comment. I have been working very hard in trying to keep a decent meter.
