I know the hills
         and gullys of your body
                   the curves
                             the turns.

I have total recall of you
and Stanyan Street
because I know it will be important later

~Rod McKuen - Stanyan Street & Other Sorrows

buckskin colored coffee
you call it
I sip from my fern covered
starbucks cup
you drink black morning
from white bone china
leftover pink roses

white is the absence of all color
amazing
how we can see the absence of something

the book is blue
and green
yellow
older than thoughts of us
yet there it is
a memory gift
pages shuffling
restless to be seen

I lie on my belly
   read to me
you say
resting your hot bone china
in the small of my back
cool breath on my heartbeat
read to me of stanyan street again
   read to me
   of the hills and gullys
   for we both know
   it will be important

   later

You portray these scenarios so vividly that I can seen them as movie scenes in my mind's eye.
Actually Lady Kate, I'd love to see movies based on your poetry!

Sending you a big hug o' love,

Linda

Most lovely, Kate.  A tender moment makes a marvelous memory for....(sigh).. later.

Oh my goodness.  I could feel this one.  You build the scene and then you draw me into it.  Well done.

I've noticed that your poems lately have had "the michael poems" included in the titles. What exactly does that mean? Are you working on a poetry book? That'd be great. I'm just curious I suppose. Cheers
