Listening to every heart

Elusive, Yet

Could it have been any clearer
this missing,
for any morning’s dawn
yawned without cheer
and no reflection
to be found
in the mirror

it really didn’t take
the horoscope to point out
that something was missing
without a doubt,
and really no reason
to whine,
nor shout.

Elusive brings its cousin
Bereft,
still I look for tinges
left behind in
singe of memories,
gold, and yet, I had not
sold one.

Is there nothing left for one
to share?  Is there nothing
left for one to write?
Yet poets portray by public
display that their
muse hasn’t died,
but mine.

Is s/he dead?  I ponder
the empty
shell of soul, or is it
reptile, having grown
beyond its skin
a metamorphosis…
a butterfly’s leftover home.

Something that once
held magic, adored,
something that still needs
to be explored,
something that otherwise
could ever shine; Muse, come home,
once again, be mine.

In hope of finding one’s muse again.

Sissie....I sure know this feeling...but it would seem that in your search for the lost you are found.

Maybe your muse
met my muse
and they went on a trip

Some place exotic
thinking that they had a break
from us and our needy desires to write.

Maybe your muse
met my muse
and they are shopping

Buying dreams and visions
to fortify us for a time as we write
of the pictures in our heads.

Maybe your muse
met my muse
and they are conspiring

against us.

Hope they are having fun.

Dearest Karilea ~~ I have always thought that you ARE the muse. If not, you apparently do not need the help of one, because this is just wonderful.
My muse left a few years back and I rarely see the little brat. I think it must be a she, for she always seemed to love ice cream. I believe she moved in with Ben & Jerry!

Yours will return and see your poem and find out you don't need her... and will stay out of envy. {{Hugs}}}

I like the 'Yet' in your title.  It reminds me of what a teacher-friend of mine requires of her students.  She requires that they add the word, "yet" at the end of the following sentence, if they choose to use the sentence:
I can't do it, YET.  (That three letter word predicts and offers quite a future...)

As to your muse, perhaps it is vacationing somewhere with mine!  If you see them together, please direct mine to return as soon as possible!  eehaw!

I enjoyed your poem, know the feeling of a missing muse, and know yours could NEVER stay away long.

hugs, Sunshine!

Doesn't look to me like your muse is gone. Maybe you just think s/he is.
