Base Line

Doing my head in
Oh what a sin
This is not music
Just noise and din
Banging and screeching
Synthetic sound
Pounding my senses
Into the ground
Turn down the volume
Switch off the base
Slacken the tempo
Slow down the pace

Why do you feel
That everyone’s deaf
And can only hear noises
From the lower clef
Maybe you’re missing
A part of your ear
That lets you hear music
Like other folk hear
Or maybe you’re missing
A part of your mind
That’s needed to listen to
Sounds of all kind

Your motive I question
For music so loud
Is it to make you
Stand out in the crowd
To see that you’re noticed
Above all the rest
No matter that people
Just think you’re a pest
I’m sure someone loves you
Without all this din
Just turn down the music
So they can get in!

Enjoyed the read but ...

"That lets you hear music
Like other folk hear"

Nope - more and more I am coming to understand "individuality" and feel sure it exists amongst the "other folk" too.

Be it music of the mind or music made by humankind it is now and will always be how we perceive it to be.

OriginalNYGuy,

This was originally posted on LIT ORG where I recieved numerous responses also but you are the first to se the second meaning of chaos and head chatter that I intended due to the stregth and empathy with the realities of what parents suffer as teenagers take their adventure into music!

Honeybunch,
Thanks for the comments, but as I love to find meaning in words may I look at your reply....

"That lets you hear music

If "individuality" exists
amongst "other folk" too.
Surely "Like other folk hear"
Aplies also to you!
(LOL)

Sorry, couldn't resist... thanks again for looking in and taking an interest...
