.

Even though more capable
There is still a nervous nonsensical
Childish quality to this conversation

It might have been better
If smoking were allowed
Which of course is not
And drinking this early
Would be unseemly

How can we talk poetry
With the very real world
And its schedules
Clamoring in our ears

And besides
That’s not at all
Why we are here

Each was moved
By something other than words
Not yet forgotten that has its origins
In the beginning of time

Yet it is too weak to overcome
A mutual empirical wariness
As if that itself would actually
Make much difference in the end

Meanwhile a few pigeons
Are perched on the statues of the dead
Outside beyond the gabled roofs
A train is passing

This is the first poem in open poetry I've ever seen that I liked. Great job!

you are really making me wonder if you are in my same city

the descriptions of these places in your poems are so like the ones I see here
