Why can't I go just one night
without dreams disturbing sleep?
I'm doing okay in life now,
so why do these fear-thoughts creep
into my subconscience,
making me wake in a sweat?
Is there something hidden there,
something I chose to forget?

God, please rid me of these visions now,
I can't bear them anymore,
I just need one night of sleep
free from the past within my core.

As even my nightmares have nightmares,
I truly wish I had the answer, in particular,
to the following:

“Why can't I go just one night
without dreams disturbing sleep?”

and I most assuredly can relate to:

“I just need one night of sleep
free from the past within my core.”

strong realistic ‘write’!

Dixie - a prayer that we all have prayed some time in our lives but, sadly, we just gotta do some things for ourselves.  Clearing out the "core" is just one of them and then God will smile and say, "Well done, my child".

A plaintive and touching plea.  It makes me sad to read it.
