Where no tyranny is tolerable

0 posted 2007-04-01 07:23 PM

(Day after day,
his head in the clouds,
man of a thousand voices talking perfectly ...
What would it be like to actually see the clouds?
Would I be riveted in fascination,
Or would I just be bored to madness watching them?
I imagine that, if people cared about watching clouds,
nobody would work
and nothing would ever get done.
But I suppose they only care about the sky
When it upsets their precious,
their ever-so carelessly made and petty little plans,
their ever so shabbily constructed "condos on barrier islands
where Nature teaches
NO DEVELOPMENT
that you don't build anything,
Where She teaches you to PAY ATTENTION,
Put down your cigarette and newspaper.
Doen't you realize there is drama all around you, up above you?
to look ... look at the sky ...
To watch the progression, the passing of the clouds ...
Gentle reader, it almost make me laugh
When I hear news reports
that the Sea blew them down, washed them away,
the Sea, when She reclaims her own.
Gentle reader, if I could only type fast enough ...
Well, I have this fascination with clouds and snowflakes,
which will never sit still
long enough for me to ever study them ... HHHHH ...
To observe atmospheric processes live,
in detail, and in real time ... HHHH ...
If I had eyesight all that I would have to do is look.
But perhaps through instruments,
through tools I have not yet learned to use,
with skills and by techniques I have not yet even heard about,
Maybe that way ... maybe someday
maybe there will be an opportunity to finally "look."
In imagination

Way up in the clouds

Amigo, it always amazes me how much you really do 'see' and the intimate depth of intellectual and spiritual connections you have with the natural world's wonders so many sighteds take for granted.

excellent line:

“man of a thousand voices talking perfectly ...”

and the following is rather a ‘powerful indictment’ of
the 21st. century “Runaway American Dream”:

“I suppose they only care about the sky
When it upsets their precious,
their ever-so carelessly made and petty little plans....”

the ending of  this fine ‘write’ is especially moving!

from one 'Meteorology buff' to another...much applause!!

Jaime - So much wisdom in this write that it's hard to highlight one or two lines.  There is indeed so much to see when stopping to look.  Imagination, yes, perhaps a gift of the soul that has a broader perspective of life.

Jaime,

I've finally time and intelligence to begin,
again, my beloved reading...I've been so ill
with a terrible sinus headache, I couldn't even
focus, let alone read some of my favorite poets,

so today, after reading this, I must tell you
of the awesome vision I saw this afternoon
coming home after spending an Easter afternoon
with my grandchildren.

As we were returning north to Salina,
the clouds to the East seemed to be as an oil
painting, so liquid were their lines, and as
abstract as a cloud that I have even seen.
I had never seen such a formation; they seemed
to be almost viscous in sight; the coloring
of their outlines seemed vague and something
about them was not quite right.  I felt as
if I had stepped into an oil painting where
someone took liberties with Nature, herself.

To the north, and even above my head, all of
the clouds seemed normal.  But as I looked
to the East, the vision of these clouds did
not fade for a long, long time.

It was quite eerie, and disquieting.

I hope that soon I shall read of someone seeing
the same ominous clouds...and if so, I will
be the first one to let you know...

so this is where your poem took me, today...
to my very own reverie.

Happy Easter, m'friend.

Jaime Fradera,

Yeah, I got a kick out of this.  It made me laugh.  There is a lot of truth in it.
