Faint are the echoes
that whirl through my mind

memories stirring thoughts of yesterday
to flash in rewind
behind closed lids squinting tighter
trying to prevent escape

to keep it secure
there, where no other
can ever intrude
in those moments
cherishing you;

where your presence lingers,
your voice remains
and time transcends
distance and space

leaving only       you and I
within a whispers embrace.

A beauty.
Great write.

"memories stirring thoughts of yesterday
to flash in rewind
behind closed lids squinting tighter  <---wow...love this visual
trying to prevent escape"

This piece spoke to me today.  I can at times hear "echoes" of voiced memories, too.

always seeking joy, adventure and romance and wishing you find the same

I am missing my special someone today, so I enjoyed reading this. You write with elegance, as if it is all written on satin. Lovely write!
