Water falls
In dancing droplets
Scarring mountain’s face
With its path

I touch my face
Where rivulets of tears
Have left their mark

Prettiness was never mine
But I saw a sort of beauty
When I looked at me
Through your eyes

Now, my own find nothing
But pain-scored furrows
On barren landscape

No scenic lookout here

this is touching. you phrase it in such a way that I think even those who have never been there are transported to this place.

Suthern, this is so touching. How amazing of you to make that comparison. I actually felt a thump in my chest, (heart?) .

"I touch my face
Where rivulets of tears
have left their mark"

Oh my dear, no tear could cause the deep scaring you are comparing. You have beauty of face, and beauty of heart, enough to last a lifetime. I well remember you and all you write tells me, you are short changing yourself. No one has the power to scar anyone as beautiful a person as you.

Always remember it is their loss, not yours.
You are worthy. Sincerely martyjo

oh my goodness
you don't need someone else's eyes
to see your beauty

still... I like the poem

Laura, you have the one singular beauty that surpasses all others -- the one that shines from within, and never fades.

Beloved one, don’t you ever, ever say that you are not beautiful, I have pictures here in front of me that show just how beautiful you are. It is a true beauty, it will never fade, never die for it is a beauty that transcends mere physical and comes from your soul. Your Inner Light shines like a beacon. If I dared I would show everyone the pictures I have but a promise is a promise so I won’t. although everyone who comes through my door can see them and they all remark at how beautiful you are. And just in case anyone accuses me of having doctored or altered the photos I haven’t, they show the truth of you.

Now as for this poem darling one, it is simply gorgeous and Oh how I wish I’d written this. But then sweet one I would have to have a little bit of your talent and everyone knows that I am just TPO, not the beautiful one.

Sweetest one, I miss you so much, how I wish that you were here. I might be able to get you to assist me with my wretched coursework.

Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds
but I can face the future with courage brave and bold

This is so well said and although some might deny it I do believe we sometimes need another's eyes to see what we cannot see or, at least, do not focus on in ourselves.  We do perhaps take the good in us for granted until another person says, "wow" and then it hits home.

I am resisting the urge to lecture you--but tsk...yanno how you see some people and you know that they HAVE to know they are good looking? I always had you pegged for one of those.

But the above stanza--isn't amazing how people can affect us? I have a "someone" who makes me feel pretty too.

This is such a touching poem Ruth.

(drop me a line, will ya?)

When I read this poem I could feel a wound, a deep one... and I thought surely, she is writing of someone else's thoughts. I have read your poetry and your response to others here for many years now. I see your photo, though a picture is not necessary for me to see who you are. I've seen you, and you are of the truly beautiful ones, the rare, precious jewel among humans. You are priceless - never believe otherwise. You make the rest of us blessed.

serenity: Do good intentions count? LOL I'll try... soon. *S*

icequeen: You fill my heart, dear lady... thank you! *S*

I haven't been around much lately... but to everyone who responded so kindly... you have my enduring gratitude. It's so easy and tempting to write and just push it away... you remind me how much I miss when I do that. *S* Thank you!

Those rivers of tears form character lines on your face and they highlight the beauty you have - and yes my dear you have beauty even if you can't see it.

Suthern One, know that you truly are a 'Belle' in all our eyes! I am so thankful that Keth brought this poem back up to view! I would have missed this opportunity to express my adoration of both you and your muse.

You are beautiful within ~ and without!

If only you could see what we see, you would see true beauty. Go buy yourself a new mirror. Then, you will see what we see.
