Burden Less

There are times
when the heaviness of snow
isn't really a burden.

It lifts me to feel the cold
against my cheeks
and the sweat
rolling down my chest,
as I get a workout of thoughts
to make me feel alive again.

Each rise
increases the warmth of my heart
filling a need
to weather my world of aloneness.

I'm glad you keep the snow up there

I'll choose walking or something a little less strenuous than shovelling to make me warm down here
