Fishin Lore

unrelenting wind fortified,
brutally enhanced sleet
slice into old mans face.
trembling half-felt hands
tingling with frozen pain
steer for 'membered shore.

caught unexpected adrift
a fishin one pre-winter day
gale surprising, unforecast.
boat bucking, trying to spin
old man confused, turned 'round
praying safety where it twas.

hours drift by in struggle
strength given out, nearly hope
a flicker, a wipe of hand.
There, there, please be real
faint light almost imagined
he guides tword anew.

waves crash with icy bath
boat bucks like run-away bronc
old man desperate to steer true.
forever in a single afternoon
his old home-made almost there
shouting and cries from shore...

kin crying and deeply thankful
pull grandfather from his beloved
bundled, rushed to fire and coffee.
bone deep hugs, rubbing of hands
old man cheats death once again
story retold, lore for generations.

Wow, this is so vivid. A very enjoyable read. Almost shivered along and yearned for shelter.

Beautifully rendered experience!

I felt those cold winds and waves too. Well done Daniel!
