A Feeling of Forever

The silences of midnight
On a mountain top I've heard,
Where I have watched and waited
For a sound or else a word
To be carried on the breezes
That just always seem to blow
And bring the breath of winter,
As they cross the slopes of snow.

I have never been rewarded,
But I linger anyway
To marvel at the moonlight
On the hills that stretch away.
There's an other-worldly feeling
In the scene I see below.
The shadows of the mountains,
That are falling row on row.

There's a gleam of rock that's weathered
And the pathway leading back,
That leads me to the cabin
Which is hidden in the black.
I'm not in any hurry
For this view is so serene,
With a feeling that forever
It will stay as it's now seen!

Calm and serene, brings the reader to a peaceful world.  I particularly enjoyed these two lines.

The shadows of the mountains,
That are falling row on row.

Quite lovely!

btw there are a couple of spelling mistakes, that you might want to fix.  In the first stanza, L3—waited.  In the last stanza, L1—There's.

Ink runs from the corners of my mouth
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.
