Red and White Stripes Never Looked More Beautiful

Daddy on this Christmas

I want to give you something more

More than just a hug and kiss

But that's all I can afford

Daddy you work so hard for us

Just to get us through

And no matter what I get this Christmas

Daddy I love you

I'll hang our stockings on the wall

One for you and one for me

I know that we can't fill them

But there's something I want you to see

On Christmas Eve she tiptoes

To the wall by the window pane

And inside Daddy's stocking

She hides a candy cane

In the morning she wakes him joyously

And finds a small surprise

Daddy held out a little doll

It was the most that he could buy

She gasped with sheer delight

And gave his neck a hug

Then she took his hand

And gave it a little tug

She brought him to the far wall

And he pulled out the candy cane

From deep inside his stocking

Beside the window pane

Daddy, she said in a tiny voice

I saved it just for you

When the teacher passed out candy

I knew just what to do

I saved the best piece and ran right home

So I could hide it away

I wanted you to have a gift

On this Christmas Day

When I put it in your stocking

I blew a kiss in too

And when I saw a shooting star

I left the wish for you

So I hope you like it Daddy

This gift to you from me

Because Daddy you're the greatest

And you're all I'll ever need

Elyse

"And when I saw a shooting star

I left the wish for you"...

I think this is the best line in a poem of awesome lines. It made my heart skip a little, thinking of that little girl telling her Daddy that. What a fabuous picture this paints for me.
