Life—complexities
upon complexities,
amid immensity
within immensities—
randomness, natural
selection we call it,
but I have yet to see
a rusty, humble Buick,
in all its crude simplicity,
dug up from the ground,
unless some human,
designer, maker, driver,
placed it in its grave . . .

Man designs
and makes, of course,
and for what he cannot make
(a whole universe),
he sees no need for a maker.
His arrogance?
His pride? Is it these
that will not allow it?

"and for what he cannot make,
he sees no need for an other
maker."
Nice write, not sure how I'm reading this,
where is creativity for him to make what he cannot make?

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Yo Art,

I like anything that puts bread in my jar, safely, and without hurting others.  I don't think that is arrogant at all.

Your poem is well thought out.

Hello HelmutB, Bobby, an GothicCherry, I was at an open mic forum, listening to a guy ranting against---actually ridiculing---those who believe in God, and I sketched out this little piece in my mind, and wrote it down later. Actually, I sensed his disbelief to be more arrogance than substance.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments.

I enjoyed this, especially the irony in the middle of the second stanza.  You must be very young, Art, if you haven't heard many people ridiculing God.  I find it very sad that people simply can't see.  I have often used the words, "Look at a butterfly" (in whatever way one wants to interpret "look at") to prove the existence of God.
