In the winds of Cherokee song

Seven Sides

Soft of breeze purred to tickle of spring's touch
Captured in the seven sides of her radiant smile
Each angle reflected by memories held in clutch
Where barriers of life lessons give us a new trial

First side of innocence shortened in youth of age
Placed at the feet of desire within judgment claim
Color of bitterness seasoned against rose of sage
Taken with exuberance by witness to life's game

Wonderment of awareness fuels the fire of amaze
Second stage of growth learns through open eyes
Where brightness of colors attract dedicated gaze
Enticing possibilities on horizon of promised skies

Curiosity holds adventures for the heart to obtain
Between feet in cruise and determination of eyes
Diamond discovery captured in each drop of rain
Dancing in splash of rhythm with shadowed skies

Kaleidoscope of thought builds on vision so pure
Where dreams become castles in journals of heart
Motivation captured so easily in each soulful tour
Caressing every new breath for passion to impart

Liquid goals find no mercy as faith finds its pace
When reality cradles the measure of steps in time
Two cannot journey as one with very much grace
With different views on every obstacle they climb

Acceptance becomes a barrier that locks all gates
Leading to floral paths laced in scent of new rose
Responsibility leans on the back of parental traits
Taking advantage of the decisions that were made

Age of wisdom brings hunger for discovery dance
As morning reflection promises rainbows at night
Breath of dreams find youth when given a chance
Nourished by whispered desires of jeweled flight

Midlife brings full circle to the cycle of life . . .
As we witness the seven sides of her radiant smile

Dear Mark, this is a masterfully written piece, to read certainly more than once. It's a keeper yes, because every single line and every stanza hold so much beauty and wisdom! They form a magical whole.

You have been missed for quite a while, but  this wonderful poem was well worth the wait.

Love,
Margherita

I loved the thoughtful followthrough of this particular write.  And I thought, the seven sides do not replace each other, just a new facet of an eternal smile, as the waltz of life continues.

Hello Mark Christopher....Wonderful to hear this song and understand its lyrics.  Though the rhythm remains the same, wisdom changes the words.

As expressed here, so much beauty, life, and wisdom all discovered but within a smile seen from your most attentive poetic eye. Mark, very awe inspiring work. God bless you, my friend,

I must have logged off just before you posted this multi-faceted beauty... and that was definitely my loss! *S*

Curiosity, dreams, reflection... The whole is incredibly beautiful, but these were my favorite stanzas. *S* Thank you for looking at midlife so kindly! *S*

After a week that was pure trial filled with life lessons I never wanted to learn... I return to the beautiful cadence and spectacular images you've penned... and have to hope you keep your grip on childhood if that's what inspires such words. *S*

Ruth - Thank you for the revisit and you know me well enough to know that the child in me is going strong and has no hope of growing up any time soon.

Mark I really loved this such an eloquent and beautifully penned piece. One day when I’ve finished my degree I hope to write as well as this. There are those who say I shall never finish either the degree or be able to write well, and on days like this I have to agree with them.

This is absolutely perfect

Love and warm stuff
