February 12, 2009

A part of me was there,
Riding upon the wind,
A part of me fell with you,
When the laws---oh, those
Faithful laws---could not
Sustain the beauty
Of flight!

I, too, am a commander
Of handmade wings,
I, fragile, fallible thing!

Yo Art,

This is very good work on a very sad incident.

I used to fly in and out of Buffalo quite often before I retired.

Thank you, Bobby. I've been a private pilot since a sophomore in high school. I retired in 2000 after a career in ground transportation and aviation management. It is always very sad.

I was stunned, shocked and horrified when the news broke while I was watching CNN. It is a miracle that more lives weren't lost on the ground. I hale from Niagara Falls, Ontario ~ just east of Buffalo, so Buffalo was part of my stomping grounds, so to speak. Tears fell like raindrops down my cheeks as family members spoke of the loved ones that they had lost.

"A part of me fell with you", yes, Art, that goes for me as well.

A sad, yet beautiful, piece of poetry from the heart.

God bless them and their loved ones,
Linda

Thank you, Linda. A bittersweet/irony of life, isn't it? that tragedy, too, is a tie that binds.

God be with you.
