she twirled in mem'ries long since past
"a lady," she did proclaim
announcement bold for all to see
chiffon in character, if not in name

the years, her partner dear, in all that she might do
passed like a soft morning's glistening
speaking quietly, suff'ring gently
obeisance e'en stood still listening

to the words of her charmed life's song
to the charm of her life's song's words

she twirled in mem'ries, spent in soft scenes pure
recalled to reoccur, granting glimpses in her blur
standing on the promises of once loved, always so
reminiscence ruminating...while gentle heartbeats stir

to the song of a life lived charmed
to the life of a heart lived warm

she twirls through the mind of mem'ries lived long
in the heart of a father's simple sunset song
list'ning to her words over again and again
"I, a lady" "Look at me", she does begin

...and the song plays on

I think, dear Steaven, that this is a very refined and deeply captivating poem. And moving too!

Beautifully written, to be read more than once ...

if this weren't so beautifully written I'd think it almost cruel... I sit here nearly sobbing as I recall those tender moments of your recalling that sweet time of life when I spoke those words. My only memory is of you proudly speaking of the incident and the way your eyes would sparkle. What a wonderful tribute... oh how I miss you!

Wow! That drew the emotions out of me.

There's more to this story I'm sure but I can get the picture and compliment you on a fine composition from the heart.

A loving father's fond memories of his little lady. I read your daughter's response and I got a little teary-eyed myself.

This heart-warming poem brought back memories of my own daughters twirling in front of my grandma's tilt-mirrored dresser, pretending they were princesses.

Thanks for stirring my own sweet memories!
