Partial Thoughts

I sit here in the cold
watching for each morning rise.
The dark slips from my memory,
wishing to hold on a bit longer.

Pressing my thoughts with an iron hand,
the swing of, a torturous weight.
Though free from some worries, others arise,
leaving the happy behind.

There's snow in the promise
to freeze the thoughts,
those pleasant memories of when,
and the building of.

I feel for the touch,
sometimes forgotten,
but I accept,
knowing it's in the wait,
my value.

The real is there
for the sharing,
though tempting
are the thoughts
to replace words
with the unconditional love
of another Sugar or Ginger.

Hesitatingly aware~~

M

Awwww, what a precious looking kitty. As for the worries? yes, it does seem like, when you get rid of one worry, there is always more to take it's place. I hope you are well.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! OH!  What a beautiful precious darling little sweetheart!  I was going to ask you to please stroke Sugar AND Ginger and shower them with hugs and kisses and cuddles from Auntie Di, a South African owl, but the sadness crept in when I re-read the poem and noticed the word "another" - the first time round the photo took my breath away and my eyes from the poem.  Presumably that is Sugar, being sugar-coloured and not ginger-coloured.  If they are in Heaven, they will know Flicka, my darling horse, very well and they will all be the best of very happy friends.  He adores all people and all animals, especially cats and dogs.

Lovely poem, too - very sensitive and introspective and honest.  I will re-read it when I can tear my eyes away from your beeyoooooooooootiful kitty long enough to take the words in properly.

Looks like a real warm cuddly replacement. The time to reflect is now and the ease will come through the other.

Great expression Maureen

Thanks everyone~~ it's a picture of my longhaired cat, Sugar and  a  look alike Ginger  afghan hound who both lived long lives but have been gone for awhile now.

I think of adopting a new  cat or dog to fill the loneliness, but then I think of how unfair it would be not to be able to be home with them enough (especially a dog).

What a loving poem for some beautiful pets Maureen.

I have a special cat named, Mow Mow.

How I fear the day, he's no longer with me.

Very special!

I never owned a cat, although I hear that cats own us. Haaaaa Want a Saint Bernard? Just kidding. I'll grieve when mine passes on, that's for sure.

Lovely poem. *s

steavenr, thanks, I miss having pets. In amost 40 years I have only had three, all living full lives and all having been "finders keepers"

Richy, my first was Puffy, another long haired cat. I wasn't too picky about names.
Each lived about 15 spoiled years.

Chanson, well a Saint Bernard is just a little too big for me to control. Nice to see you here! Hoping the winter is finding you warm.

Thank you,vandana.

Bill, loneliness does that to you. Hope you are doing well.
