The Epiphany
by Linda L. Dowd

Dust motes danced in gold rays of light,
as I lazed in a Sunday morn’s bed.
Sagebrush thoughts kept tumbling around,
my dazed and sleepy head.

Pensively, I languished there,
then from me slipped a sigh,
For thru’ the open shutters,
I spied blue denim sky.

Billowing clouds were swirling,
playing hide-and-seek with the sun.
I wished to fly up high and free,
until my days were done.

The struggles on the road I’ve walked,
had taken a mighty toll.
I yearned for sweet serenity,
to soothe my sinking soul.

While lying there in reverie,
an epiphany soon appeared.
~ Each step in my life’s journey,
was to be embraced ~ not feared.

Through loving self and others,
and with faith in God Above,
I could conquer what came my way,
through inner strength and love.

By turning from my challenges,
my essence had lost its glowing.
~ I had to walk with head held high,
and trust my inner knowing.

I swiftly cast the covers off,
and leapt from my cozy bed.
No longer would I hide from life,
~ forthwith I’d live instead

Dust motes danced in gold rays of light,
as I lazed in Sunday morn’s bed.
Sagebrush thoughts kept tumbling around,
my dazed and sleepy head.

Pensively, I languished there,
then from me slipped a sigh,
For thru’ the open shutters,
I spied blue denim sky.

I loved the entirety of this piece, but the above spoke to me the loudest.

Thank you for posting this.

And the rest is history,

sweet and melodious song,
may we all respond to
our calling,

Thank you, dear Linda, for your uplifting words.  I've been fearing every step these days and not taken enough time to look at the sky.  I aim to remedy that.

Hugs

No longer should one dilly dally but get on with life is an important message that we should heed.  Alas, it is easier said than done.  Nice poem accompanied with the voice recording.
