Bones and Mom
are in their apartment
by the El.

It’s night,
and some cabbage is cooking
on the gas heater.

It smells good.

The El train roars by,
and people look in
the apartment window.

They don’t see
the roaches and water bugs
crawling on the walls.

They don’t hear
the mice
and bigger rodents
crawling in the walls.

It doesn’t matter really.

Bones and Mom
wouldn’t be embarrassed
if they did see
and hear.

That’s the way it was.

Bobby

Thanks Bill,

Cabbage is very good for you.  Turnips are good too.

I can see that you know what's good.
