O my beloved,
Hold forth your hands
That I might place therein
The desolate, shattered shell
Of what was once my heart.
And if by chance
There should remain
A semblance still
Of life at your dear touch,
Be not afraid...
It lies quite dead, yet dying
Cannot lose
The consciousness
Of you.
