Bones is leaving the house
for his Thursday night card game.

Griselda comes up
to give him a good luck kiss.

She feels something hard.

She knows Bones
would never go anywhere
without his blade,
but this is way different.

“Yo Bones,
what are you doing,
why you packing heat?”

“Heavy card game,
lots of money.”

Bobby

Thanks James,

For reading and commenting.

I'm glad you like the poem.  I'm sorry to hear about your Rolex.

You know how Bones is about money, and poker.

Hmmm. In one way, Bones would have made a good Girl Guide ~ "Always be prepared!" lol

Thanks dear Osprey,

If the truth were know, Bones always did well with cards.  For a period of time in his life, he supported himself by playing poker.  He didn't cheat either.  He was just that good.

Thanks dear Linda,

Hey, according to an old song by the great Tom Lear:

"Be prepared, that's the Boy Scouts marching song, be prepared, as through life you go along.

Don't solicit for your sister, because it isn't nice, unless you get a good percentage of her price...."

Funny the songs that just stick in your mind after many years.

Bill,

That something hard was Bones 38 caliber hand gun.  Bones had to make sure no one cheated.

I get a kick out of playing Texas Hold'em on the Internet, however I never play for money on the Internet.  Haven't played it in a couple of years.

I've been in a few of those games in Louisiana. Not real comfortable.

Thanks Critical mass,

You'll be happy to know that Bones never ventures out of the city of Philadelphia.

Thanks Prasad,

That may be true, however, Bones and I used to feed ourselves that way.  We didn't need to cheat either.  We were just that good.  I think Butch and Wawa used to let us win as an act of charity.
