From reaches so free they were called to a war
To a bloodthirsty battle that screams evermore
Where comrades of freedom and mates by their side
Found evil there doing the devil’s abide

War is a battle that’s fought by the few
That follow through orders that most wouldn’t do
And though death’s among them, they keep going on
Men, merely mortal with pride that is strong

Our Anzac’s they battled but what could they do?
Endure what was dealt them and hope to get through
Young men who were willing but most were to die
Our wars hold to guilt as does man to their lie

No war is the last that man will endure
As long as we’re here there will be many more
But thank God for the men who all give up their right
To stay here with freedom and safety in sight

To all of the soldiers that war has at call
Compared to your promise our duty is small
You all hold a spot that is warmed by our heart
You’re our backbone and message when trouble does start

Today we remember the fallen by war
And say thanks to the soldiers we’ll need evermore
Through times of great worry you’re here to defend
And while you’re among us, you’re here as our friend

Australia, New Zealand and allies of peace
We honor your loyalty as battles increase
And hope in the future you only will train
That wars become fruitless as world becomes sane

We all shall remember and never forget
Our hero’s of battle, in pride we have set
And though we can never bring back who are gone
We honor their actions in place they belong

Rick

I am at a loss to express how deeply you have moved me with this poem.  There is so much wisdom in your words and you honor soldiers world-wide.

quote:
And hope in the future you only will train
That wars become fruitless as world becomes sane

Yes.  We can only hope and work toward that end.

With love and friendship,
Alison

Rick, that is a powerfully written poem to honor the actions of those soldiers.

Not only powerfully written ~ but expertly written! You sure know how to use that patriotic pen of yours!

God bless you and all those who so bravely fought and died,

Linda

Hi James, always good to have you comment my friend, thank you.

Dear Hope, we are so lucky to have people to go and fight a war for their country, for us all, they fight because of orders and many die by them, I thank them all and so regret what wars bring. Thank you for your reply my friend.

Dear Alison, good to see you here again my friend, war is a sad state of afairs, we can only really express our thoughts and hope in some way they make a difference. Sane governments, now wouldn't that be great and people loving their fellow man.

steavenr, I believe wars are fruitless and should never be, but it is not in mans nature to stay at peace, there is always that power play, that need to be stronger than another, I hope we can all love and keep our families from its horrors. Thank you for your reply my friend, again appreciated.

Dear nourzihane, nice to see you here again, thank you for the visit and sharing your thoughts once again, take care.

Dear Linda, God bless you also my friend, thank you for taking the time out to comment, your thoughts are always very much appreciated.

To you all my friends, I hope we on this earth can live more in harmony and peace than what we have and do, I wish you all well and safe day ahead, take care, thank you all once again.

Sincerely
Rick
