Someone has been clandestinely
sticking dreamlets and poemlets
into my chemotherapy baglets.

Dr. Jones will no doubt deny the charge,
but unabashedly admitted in consultation
he has a deep-vein passion for poetry.

How else could all these flights of fantasy
tumble from my throbbing fingertips
after midnight on the long chemo days?

J'accuse Monsieur d'Oncology
of injecting me with vibrant imagery,
and injecting metaphors intravenously!

Dreams and poems dance serendipitously before my eyes
as the moon climbs high in twinkling starry skies,
when I should be deep in slumber sighs.

J'accuse Monsieur d'Oncology
of injecting me with layered imagery,
needling me to write in the middle of the night!

***This is how I maintain my sanity.

The sound of your giggles is something that warms the cockles of my heart and I am sure everyone else here at Pip, especially all those who were around through those crucial months of the worst of your health!  Laughter is another thing that is healing you!  Keep it up!

This is a delight to read and to ponder, dear Kacy!

This common passion will add much healing power, no doubt.

Now you brought us an answer of how you do it! I am so happy for you for this unusual source of inspiration. Got to be grateful to that Monsieur!

Love and hugs.

I can't decide if you are more lovely than cute, or the other way around!

You are certainly inspiring, either way.

Loved this.

You ladies are gonna make me blush one of these days. Glad you enjoyed this bit of chemo humor. I can't wait to give a copy to my oncologist next Tuesday! He has a great sense of humor, so is bound to enjoy this. I'm considering writing a 'Chemo Humor Column' and approaching the American Cancer Society with this idea for their online and printed magazines. We could all use more smiles and giggles!

There was a time I sure could have used a person of your caliber to talk to, Kacy. I hope you do write that column. There's a need for it.

Me Pretty, I'll giggle with you at three a.m. too.  Wish my Dr. would inject some whimsical inspiraton or at least more glee  into the gleevec.      You'd think with all that intravenous conjecture they'd find a way to entice Goldilocks to stay, no?  But all she does is make tracks! I'm hanging on by my roots.

Your poem is a delight, Kacy...a delight.

I'm glad you've been injected
Because your poetry I've inspected
I find it all such a delight
Many at such times stop using their minds
But you're turning wrong into right!

Love this one kid and you got true attitude.

Ida, Karen, Eric, thanks for reading and for all your encouragement.
If the cancer humor column comes together, it will obviously include some poetry as well as short anecdotes from chem and radiation patients. I hope to get several people to submit their personal story. Even if the Cancer Society doesn't want to participate, I'll find some other support groups to 'needle' with the idea.
Thanks to all who are so supportive!

Alison

Life is what it is, with ups and downs, happy and sad times. I choose to be happy most of the time, and have nothing much to hide except personal emails occasionally. Even then, it seems likely that someone else gets their eyeballs on these things long before we do. LOL

I haven't shown this to the good Dr yet, forgot to do that last week! Next week will be soon enough.

Thanking each of you again, for your ongoing kindnesses and support.
