The coast is still
save for the sweeping sands
and quiet beauty.
A whisper in the wind
washes away salt water tears.

Winters' chill sends a thrill
blowing softly in my ear.
Stirring memories of young love
a place in the sun from another time
seemingly endless on the horizon.

Basking in the sun streaked, August heat
bending our ways in the tall grass
caught in the golden sunset of years
and summer times on vacation.
Breezing through our youth.

Pale pinks and yellow sunbursts,
ice cold lemonade and coppertone babies
highlight the endless summers.
Melting a young girls heart
sweetened in the shade.

Rafting on waves that don't break
like promises kept
word for word
catches my breath in the winter wind
and breathes.

Wow. I have a mythic fascination with the west coast (I live in frozen Canada) and this poem has just sent that into freakin' overdrive. Very very good poem.

Welcome to these blue pages. This makes me homesick for the Pacific. Born in California,  I spent most of my life on or near the coast, especially the Channel Islands area north of Malibu, and then along the coast of Oregon. Life circumstances have me in northeast PA, but my heart belongs to the west coast.
Sift some sand through your fingertips and  toes for me, please.

Beautiful images in this piece. They're clear life breath images and one can hear, see and smell them.

Very nicely done!

Welcome to Passions.

Ok, that's it.  I'm headed for the beach to breathe in that chilly wind and maybe even a few snowflakes. I love the visuals and the time travel through memories in your poem; very nice.

Hi Noel,

Welcome to PIP, this is very good and your metaphor is much appreciated. I liked this
very much.

One thought: In the first line of the second stanza, In my read it should either be "Winter's chill....",
or "Winters that chill, send a thrill". At least that is how I'm reading this.

Thank you gentlemen.

Punctuation is not my forte..especially that darn apostrophe....  Call me dense!  Is that how you spell dense?
