While swimming in the open sea,
I glanced about and chanced to see
shimmering gold fins cruising casually
in the depths just beneath me.
I took note of this moment,
immersed in spontaneous harmony.

~no predetermined keys...no prearranged riffs~

As I scaled the layered spaces
of our intermingled realities,
we became a symphony of synchronicity,
a resonance of the opus of my fantasies.

v. well done!

I am especially fond of:

"~no predetermined keys...no prearranged riffs~

As I scaled the layered spaces
of our intermingled realities,
we became a symphony of synchronicity (!)"

and ... those resonant opus fantasies ...

MUCH applause!!

Is that the anciet city of Opus in greek mythology?

Or Beethoven's Symphony No. 3

hmmmm....

If the "O" was capitalized it would be the city
If the "O" was capitalized  and "Opus" was in quotations
it would be Beethoven's 3rd
I believe "opus" as I see it here is a species of penguin.

Quote:

Quote:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
we became a symphony of synchronicity,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

......Okay, I'm confused???

OK, turtle, I understand the confusion.
In this, the synchronicity is with the swimming fish, and opus is used as a general term for a musical work, as opposed to a reference to Beethoven or an ancient mythological city. Is there really an opus penguin?

Hi midnite,

Yep, That's why I was confused on how you intended the use of "opus".

Also, I've never seen anything suggesting that "opus" is a general term related to music. Do you have a link?

Encarta reference: Opus, Latin for 'work,' a musical term used with a figure to indicate the numbering of a composer's works. Opuses are usually in chronological order.

Also, from dictionery.com:
o⋅pus    /ˈoʊpəs/
–noun, plural o⋅pus⋅es or, especially for 1, 2,
1. a musical composition.
2. one of the compositions of a composer, usually numbered according to the order of publication.
3. a literary work or composition, as a book: Have you read her latest opus? Abbreviation: op.
*****
I never add a number, though I've done at least one other 'opus' write....borrowing the musical concept freely.
In the Berkeley Breathed cartoon series there was an Opus T. Penguin character. Maybe he should have been Opus 1 instead of Opus T?

I easily slipped into your synchronicity and harmony, dear Kacy.

This is spectacular, a true magnus opus!

Love,
Margherita

Yep, Turtle seems like Symphony of Synchronicity was not written by Stravinsky, nor is it referring to that great album from The Police...lol.

MidniteSun, I really like how you brought musical terminology into your piece, the title itself is highly evocative. And you did bring back some magical sea moments to my mind. Thanks for that

your first stanza swallowed my mind, while this simply blew me away:

"As I scaled the layered spaces
of our intermingled realities,
we became a symphony of synchronicity,
a resonance of the opus of my fantasies."

...thank you for sharing this beautiful gift of the mind...
