She looked like me
but better-eth.
She wore the brown-blush sequin sheath
underneath the suede cross cloak.
I noted that she wore support
hose and boots with heels and skort--

Her hairstyle was much like mine
except, I give me five points more
for knowing how to "scrunge" the wet
and use the blow dryer...

Interesting, to watch him glance
at me, at her, the busy bee--
she hugged me "Hi" and ignorance:
"My god but you look beautiful"
I replied that she was hot
feeling I was dutiful
as I took the stool.

"Y'gonna sing for us tonight?"
she asked me as she gave air kiss.
Not unless the gathering
of clouds pronounced us
as a twitch:
hisssssssssssss
and lightning--transformist;
like it had before, the stars
inbetween the cotton leaves
blooming like the fields
of dread, with the blooms of
puff and red, dripping off the thorn.

"I only sing when no one does"
I ordered water and merlot.
acapella
laughing glee
clapping for the fools who dreamed
wishing on the big rock star
singing off the mike and free
from the spot and from the mean
faces laughing, dancers squeeze
each other much too tight.

His fingers traveled up my back:
"You have pretty hair..."
I ignored him, clapping for
the girl who wished she was not there
singing absurd word for word
as they disappeared in air
while she hummed the tune, despair,
laughing when she was aware

she was not the big rock star
and curtseyed to the crowd's Astaire:
dancing tiny jubilee
with her itty bitty feet
tap-tap-dancing
dimple-sweet:

His fingers traveled to my neck;
he bent me to his lips to hear:
"I'm gonna sing for you, Otis..."
Redding? Try some tenderness...

oooh, I may be weary, yes,
wearing this same shabby dress

dancing dizzy in the dark
drop-lipping drool
my cigarette

showing off my thigh...

I lied.

"Try a little tenderness."

pure magic

"I give me five points more
for knowing"

you get 25 more
for just knowing
not for the hair knowing
just the knowing

"I lied.

"Try a little tenderness." "

we all do
and........yes a little tenderness

"..she hummed the tune, despair...." I haven't read anything better tonight, and I have read a lot tonight.

Another beautiful ramble from within your poetic soul Celeste.

"I ordered water and merlot"

GOD! I hope you didn't put them in the same glass!!

awww....thanks guys and gals...

and there's just something about that karoake club I find inspiring.

Well, there's the merlot, too.

Thanks for the time and encouragement.

Awesome! What an intriguing write, superb visuals and psychological depths.

Wow, you are a master with words and I am sure your voice must be hoarse and sensual to the right point.

Love,
Margherita

Enraptured... that's me. By your story and your images.
Envious... that's me, too. *S* You don't even know the depths of your talent, do you? *S*
