Born in 1969 but pretty much
grew up in the 70's with my brothers-
their music, mom's stuff too,
wasn't worried about others.

Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Buffet, Queen,
Foreigner, and the one-hit wonders,
Welcome Back Kotter and Bluer Than Blue
and all those other blunders.

Fleetwood Mac, yeah Stevie Nicks
Neil Diamond and Peggy Lee,
England Dan and Little River Band,
Little Richard, Cher and Sonny.

Ozzy and Paul Simon.
Feelin' Groovy yes!
Rolling Stones! Harry Chapin!
Flowers Are Red, I guess.

Meatloaf, two outta three...
gotta get up, gotta getta home fore the morning...

Jim Croce...time in a bottle...
Operator...thanks for the warning...

Yeah that's the good stuff.

The 70's.

Now that is my era and so nice to see a tribute to an age where music set some cornerstones that will last forever.  I got all those and soooooo many more.  Don't tell anyone but I still got some of those old bell bottoms and platforms too.  Waiting for them to come back in style. LOL

Yo dear Passing shadows,

The seventies must have been nice.  I’m afraid I rather missed those years.  They were my family rising, night working, and university days.  I’m afraid I didn’t have much time to listen to music.  I worked most of the night, slept a little bit, paid attention to the wife and kids in the morning, and then went to the University of Pennsylvania during the day.

When I got home I went straight to work.  My youngest son was born in 1969, the year I graduated from Penn.  It was interesting.

Love Bobby

Oh yes, the good stuff!
I agree.
In 1967 I was playing in a band and always had fifty bucks in my pocket....Kinds like having two hundred these days.
But it was all fun and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

So I was in a band before you were born but yet you know the good stuff.

My 33 year old daughter knows all the old stuff too and she just loves it......

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Eric

You forgot the best thing that came out of that decade...me!  I was born in 79.

This poem was very amusing.  I was surprised that the only reference that threw me was "bluer than blue".  Other than that, I know what you were talkin about.  Thanks to Nick at Night and my old hippie mother.

thanks guys *giggles*

I had fun with this...I could write a poem 3 pages long about the 70s.

Bluer Than Blue was a song by Michael Johnson that went a bit like this:

"After you go, I can catch up on my readin'
after you go, I'll have a lot more time for sleepin'
and when you go, I can run through the house screamin'
and no one will ever hear me.
I really should be glad but I'm bluer than blue,
sadder than sad,
you're the only light this empty room has ever had...
life without you is gonna be
bluer than blue."

Good song. I'm sure you could find it on the net somewhere. Thank God for old hippie mothers!

You've listed a lot of my favorites... and I had my very own lil mental CD sampler going, humming bits of each melody... until the thought of the cowboy in platforms and bell bottoms made me choke with laughter... I've had to hush just to catch my breath. *S*

I would say thanks for the trip down memory lane... but most of these are STILL on my playlists! LOL

LOL, now I've got a dozen melodies in my head all at once, competing for attention. Music soothes the spirit.

"The 70's" ~ a title like that certainly drew me in! I loved everything about the 70's. I may be dating myself, but I also adored the 60's!
Reading your list of recording artists was like going on a trip down memory lane! ~ a really nice trip!
