A silver coin of moonlight sparkles
deep in your wishing well eyes.
How many wishes have drowned in you
and what happens to wishes that die?

How many wishes were granted?
How many wished simply for luck?
How many times must each wish be chanted?
How many can I buy for a buck?

Men fill your depths with their pittance
in hopes that their wishes come true.
They wish for the skies and a bird-like existence,
and not for the waters of you.

Hello tao power....

"A silver coin of moonlight sparkles
deep in your wishing well eyes.
How many wishes have drowned in you
and what happens to wishes that die?"

Beautiful images and much to think about in your question.  Welcome to Pip.

This is crazy good. Way to have a killer first post...

Sometimes a single wish to read such words are good enough a wish as any. Depth and feeling .... great work!

I think you could have stopped after the first three lines--

"A silver coin of moonlight sparkles
deep in your wishing well eyes.
How many wishes have drowned in you"

Not that I didn't enjoy the rest--I did.

But I've been known to order an appetizer sampler and forego dinner, too.

So what do I know?

Welcome to Passions.

Yo Tao power,

This works rather well.  The repetition works well too.
I like it loads.

Who gets to keep the coins?

Love the poetic reasoning. Welcome to Passions.
Everyone here is nice except me but I'll grow on you.

I'm always looking for song ideas or hooks as they're called.
The idea of "Wishing Well Eyes" just intrigues me no end....Hummm..

Very clever write.

This is powerful tao power! One of those poems a poet wishes he had written.
