Well I think school started for me August 15-of course that's 'cause Band Camp to me is the start of school. Let's just say today is my last day of official freedom, but it really isn't 'cause I have to finish my AP English homework after month's of procrastination.

That's right, school never stops, Ron, so that's a great answer.

As far as different communites, geography and such, the farmers in the midwest worked around the farming season, so school stopped in time to plant the summer crops, and get ready for the winter [wheat] crop.  By mid-August, give or take a week or two, the farmers did not need their "entire family" to be helping, so school resumed.  [Or so I've been told.

In California, we always began AFTER Labor Day, and didn't stop school until about mid-June.  Of course, we never got a snow day, and I remember hearing the news talk about all of the students who just "couldn't go anywhere" but showed delightful pictures of them building snowmen.

Oh, I SO wanted to live where it snowed!  It seemed like such freedom!  I had NO clue of the work it involved!!

oh no you never ever want to live by the snow it's awful and cold and icky ha-ha i live in snow it's so cold and your ears freeze until you think they are gonna fall off.... ahhhh but anyway i started school on sept 7th
